Earlier today Cisco announced a bunch of new stuff in their Nexus product line. I won’t go into details as you can read about it in the link provided below. One funny note however is that the picture on the original page has changed. The original picture included what we all seem to believe is the new Nexus 7009. However in the press release from Cisco they never mentioned the Nexus 7009.
Seems they have now removed the Nexus 7009 from the press release photo and are using a new photo.
The press release can be found here: http://newsroom.cisco.com/dlls/2011/prod_033011.html
The original photo with the Nexus 7009:

Side to side airflow on a 'Data Center Switch' brilliant….
If you want front to back airflow, buy a 7010.
If you want to be able to fit it in the space your 6509 currently occupies, buy this.
The 6509 this is replacing had side to side airflow as well. If you want front to back airflow, you'll have to give up some more rackspace. You don't get both.
Leaving snarky comments that don't make sense… brilliant!
Dane, thanks a lot.
I think the 7009 is a smart move- there was probably a big segment of people waiting on something with the same form factor as 6509. I can also see people who can now easily relay to the managers – "this is the replacement for the 6509, same number, looks the same – see its not so different!"
Have to note the cost delta on 7009 to 7010 is right at $25K…
That is some really expensive air flow engineering!
